Plot summary
The movie starts with the murder of ex-comissioner by a escaped prisoner Kamal Egambaram (Riyaz Khan).Then the story shifts to Masilamani aka Massu (Suriya), and his friend Jet Li aka Jet (Premgi Amaren) who are small-time con artists. While trying to escape after a heist gone wrong, Massu and Jet meet with a car accident, post which Massu starts seeing dead people in real life. After finding out that his friend Jet is also a ghost and had died in the accident, he forms a group of loitering ghosts to earn money by performing fake exorcisms and extorting money from scared rich people, one of them being Dr. Gnanaprakasam (Brahmanandam) who is also the head of the hospital where Malini and Julie (Vidyullekha Raman) work, while promising the ghosts that he would fulfill their last wishes in return.
Everything goes well until he meets a ghost called Shakti (also Suriya), who speaks Ceylon Tamil and is also the look-alike of Massu. Shakti asks Massu to help him pull off a large heist. However, he knowingly sabotages the plan and tricks Massu into running over one of his enemies. After that, Vikram (Parthiban) takes charge to investigate the case. He finds out that Mass has some link with the murder. Story progresses and Mass comes to know Shakti's story through Kamal, and realises that he is Shakti's son.
Shakti comes to India along with his wife Anu, daughter Meghna (Yuvina Parthavi) , while Mass is an infant. They arrive to do some social work, but fate plays a role there and politicians headed by Radha Krishnan aka RK(Samuthirakani) enter the scene, thereby killing Shakti, Anu and Meghna, while Mass is left safe in a small house nearby. Mass, after realising, plans to kill all the people who were responsible for his family's demise. In this process, he meets with an accident on which he is hit on the head by RK and hence he loses the ability to converse with the spirits anymore. Story continues, and Mass succeeds in avenging his parents death. The film ends with Shakti goes to heaven and joins with Anu and his daughter and Massu,seeing all this, smiles.
